Creative tension in occupational work roles: a dualistic view of human competence management methodology based on soft computing

The ultimate challenge of human competence management is to successfully organize and harness the skills and knowledge of employees for added value creation inside the company. In this context, it is important to understand the aspirations and needs of employees for changing the current ways of working, and their subjective appreciation of the respective organizational roles they play. From the company point of view, it is also important to develop a supportive and responsive organizational culture. The strategy for effective competence development should be linked to the formal and perceived operators’ work roles as well as their own assessment of the current and desired (target) competences. This paper provides an overview of the soft computingbased methodology for human competence management based on the concepts of creative tension and co-evolutionary management. The results of recently conducted studies are used to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed approach in a variety of occupational settings.
